Duilio Alberto Cano Jimenez Nicaragua |
| Duilio was born January 28, 1971 in San Juan de Oriente Masaya, Nicaragua, to parents who were both ceramists. At the age of 14 he began to practice making pre-Columbian designs including the winged serpent. At the age of sixteen he won recognition as an exceptional potter. He received an honorable mention award for a nativity decoration theme “Maria y El Niño”. He created a piece that represented the ruins of a great hotel in Managua winning a competition with the theme “Nacimiento”. Duilio has achieved considerable national and international acceptance with his work selling his products to the United States, Europe, as well as to other Central American countries. His style and technique are extremely versatile and includes everything from the bell ornaments to the Escher-llike fish pottery. He still does pieces that incorporate pre-Columbian designs, many which express his love for animals. |
